With all the beans I forgot to count
I’m up short in nowhere town
But there’s enough bad times to go around
When the sleeping law was only supposed to lay down

If birds’ll sing and Spring will bring us milder times again,
Then I’ll do my best to make a motion of my current situation.

And all marbles I forgot to lost
Go thick as never ending wants
And I’m of two minds, me and my thoughts
Trouble is I’m not the boss

Not Even February

How all alonely we seem to be
In morning mirror critiquing
Where uncertainty has you wondering
If you’re awake or under dream
And no amount of great escape
From prison or the working day
Will help to shake the hands that play
Your anxiety songs away…

Poemetrics from the Year’s Past Which Never Made it to Publishment

Woke up and I was 26
We sparkle our eyes
In the Saturday night
We pick out the shoes best to pick us a fight
We dance around flames
Smoke jukebox serenades
And the pagan in me is the latent stage

i’m lonesome, exhausted
at living a hospice
and drowning in
television
becoming accosted

Just learn to sit in bars and play guitars and smoke cigars and never talk to
Anyone with anything what is to be continued…
We ramble on over anyone with half a song to play our sing along but never on with
Anyone for what to be continued…

The now wheres and what hows? (…)

I Love People all Around the World I Never Get to See

all the friends you’ll never know
and all the ones who made their go
to find whatever far aways would try and give them happily ever after
and what’s the point of longing
for the things that don’t belong in
the current time and space to which we choose to sing our song in? (…)

Another More Poem

With a cobweb taste, 1993
The universe came and said to me
I’m not constrained by the things you think
And the rules approved by humanity
Construct all up for yourself these ways
To keep your mind focused on just about anything
Except experiencing love and lust
While the lies you tell are the only lies that you trust
I miss feeling so torn up inside
And I feel so torn all up inside
A new haircut to distinct myself
And imagination enough to tell me
I’m not that far from where I’ll be
But it takes just enough and I’ve got plenty
I wish I was a little more this or that
And I am, so just open up and say that I am

How to Live this Life

To adventure somewhere strange
And find comfort in the every new day
Make new friends with all new thoughts
To remember childhood ideals we forgot
To sing more than just along
And to say more than we just talk
To walk more streets
Dream more dreams
In our waking life
As we do when we sleep
To take our time with what we’re doing
Than to simply do more things
To hold more hands
And to climb more trees
As we muse all the more futurely
Big mountain peak, and I’m climbing
Great blue sky sea, and I’m swimmingly
Clear lung, and I’m made of air
I can breathe from all the way up here
A simple truth is out of time
Without measurement and unconfined
A good secret is always better told
And a daylight moon is always full

Wanderlusting

If everything we’ve missed is everything we now are
And the people’s opinions what formed us can only be remembered from afar
If the lifestyle you lead is the life you’ve been given
Then your own life just might not be the one you’ve been living. (…)

Nicktown RD

We’d mention it once or twice by the lake
At the edge of the spot that split dry from wet
And the rope swing was broken and had been for years
Crawdads and iron bridge roads
Sundays meant herding local feral goats
And no one thought twice if a t-shirt were to just disappear
But you can only go home once on your 15th birthday I hear
And childish notions left behind or held onto like memory souvenirs
I knew that you oh so well, but that person might as well have dwelled
In a bag in a box at the bottom of the deep blue sea
For all the person you now mean to me. (…)

An Empty City

The fire hydrants don’t have much to do these days
The slower life of waiting for the school bus promenade
to bring home all you’ve wrapped your life around
A city’s population but there’s no one left in this old town
Where am I come from, where have I go? (…)
