What World?

What nation is this where a man can convince a population who makes an annual average of $50,000 per house that providing tax cuts to those who make $250,000 or more in that same year will benefit us as a whole? Where a man can convince nearly half of the nation, pray to God less, that “spreading the wealth around”, also known as taking it from the rich and super-rich and giving it back to the people who earned it in the first place, is a bad thing?

According to the US Census Bureau, in 2005 only 1.5% of people made above $250,000 per year.

What nation do we live in where a man can blatantly lie about such things at a time when so much is at risk because of the lies and corrupt political games of the past 15 years, yet people still believe in him? I’m afraid for Tuesday, not because I believe that Obama won’t win, but because I’m afraid he won’t win by a landslide. If 45% of people in the United States vote for McCain, with all of the sinister deceit and evil he’s exhibited throughout this campaign, with his direct and open slandering of his opponent, using tactics that play to people’s fears about race and religion, exploiting the ignorance of the American people, if 45% of people vote McCain, is that an Obama victory?

Yes.

Is that a victory for America? I don’t believe so. That still leaves us with a country where far, far too many of the people who have the power to decide are making incredibly frightening choices.
